It’s the first hot day of the summer. Uncomfortably shifting in your seat, you turn on that long-neglected AC knob, only to discover an unwelcome blast of warm air streaming out from the vents. A bad situation made worse: that’s when you turn to us—your air conditioning service and repair headquarters.
We can help you choose the right battery for your vehicle and lifestyle. Our staff can safely and professionally install your battery and get you back on the road.
Belts & Hoses
Exposure to heat, vibration and contamination makes belts and hoses wear out faster than any other components in your car. That’s why regular inspections are so important. Here are the belt and hose types in your car, along with their applications.
The brake system is actually composed of two kinds of systems—Hydraulics and Friction Materials. Here’s what happens within these systems between the time your foot hits the brake pedal and your car stops.
Computerized Engine Analysis
Your modern vehicle’s engine is a highly sophisticated piece of equipment. The days of your father’s gas-guzzler are long gone—instead, Federal Exhaust Emission and Fuel Economy regulations demand.
Cooling System Maintenance
The following components are inspected. Their condition is recorded and compared to manufacturer’s specs. Recommendations are made per the Motorist Assurance Program Uniform Inspection Guidelines:
CV & Drive Axles
The axle on your vehicle is the structural component that connects two wheels together on opposite sites. It’s a load-bearing assembly that acts like a central shaft, maintaining the position of the wheels relative to each other and to the vehicle body.
Your exhaust system is more than a muffler. It is a series of pipes that run under your car, connected to your muffler and catalytic converter. The main function of your exhaust system is to control noise and to funnel exhaust fumes away from passengers.
Filter, Oil & Lube
Check the owner’s manual to see if your driving habits are considered to be “severe service.” This type of driving requires more frequent oil changes, warns the Car Care Council. Have the oil changed accordingly, usually every 3-5,000 miles.
Suspension & Steering Systems
The primary function of your cars suspension and steering systems is to allow the wheels to move independently of the car, while keeping it “suspended” and stable. Any play or uncontrolled motion in these systems results in a deterioration of handling and accelerated tire wear.
Tires & Wheels
Tire rotation refers to the regular practice of switching the position of each tire on the car.
Tire rotation helps to equalize tread wear and is critical to gain the maximum life from your tire investment.
For those of you who aren’t mechanically-savvy, you probably still understand that transmission problems are among the most expensive repairs required for your vehicle.

A FEW REASONS TO CONSIDER US
We took our Toyota Prius into My Dads Automotive when we had a brake issue and just happened to be in the vicinity of this repair shop. What an unexpected surprise to stumble upon an honest and responsive automotive repair place! We ended up having a brake issue that was part of a Toyota recall and instead of just telling us what the problem was and charging us accordingly, My Dads thoroughly researched the issue, called Toyota on our behalf, and kept us posted every step of the way on when the repair would be completed. They even called us again one day later to make sure everything was running smoothly. It’s service like this that makes me want to take the time to write a Google review. Highly recommend!
Took my car to him after the dealership said we needed a bunch of work. He not only charged less, he also recognized a bunch of things that the dealership got wrong in their diagnosis. I wouldn’t take my cars anywhere else.
I would definitely recommend this shop to anyone I know, I feel like I was treated more than fair with the price and I trust the mechanic, he’s very good at explaining the diagnosis!
This is the place where I can put my trust on when my car has some “real” issues which was easily diagnosed and fixed. Thank Brian for being so dedicated and honest. I would highly recommend to everyone. And I actually did recommend my family members to this place and he was also very happy too. Thank you again Brian.
Brian is honest, hardworking and very fair. He will not give you the runaround and does genuine work on your vehicle. I would never take my car anywhere else!
Easily the most trustworthy mechanic in the area. Brian is great! He gives you an honest and fair assessment of your vehicle and provides advice/guidance on what maintenance NEEDS to be done to maintain your vehicle. What NEEDS to be done…not what he WANTS to do to your car to upsell you. He’s even suggested at times of choosing the cheaper (less expensive) route in certain situations. He provides you his advice and gives you options..and of course you have to choose what is best for your car (and wallet).
Brian has a wealth of knowledge but specializes in Honda/Acura and German made vehicles (Audi, BMW, etc). Overall great guy and accomplished professional.
I’ve been going to My Dad’s Automotive since the company opened and will continue to go there for the life of my vehicle. I live in Arlington and travel to Chantilly just to have my car (2005 Acura TL) serviced by My Dad’s. There are plenty of mechanic shops around but this is the only shop I trust to provide an honest evaluation of my car.
Definitely a 5 star rating. I highly recommend visiting My Dad’s Automotive for your vehicle maintenance needs.
My Dad’s Automotive was recommended to us by a friend. We can’t say enough about how fortunate we are to have found this company! The owner, Brian, is the only person that we will ever entrust with our cars. Brian is honest, professional, and extremely fair with the cost of his services. He is always available to provide immediate consultation with any car issues. And, work is performed with a very quick turn-around time. We feel so fortunate to have finally found someone that we know will give us a fair and honest estimate, as well as an accurate diagnosis as to what is wrong with our cars. This is such peace of mind. Plus, Brian is a very nice guy! In this day and age, this is truly a rare find. Brian also goes the extra mile and makes follow-up phone calls to be certain that the work was performed satisfactorily and that there are no longer any problems. We are happy to give Brian, and Dad’s Automotive, the highest rating possible. We will be lifetime customers.
By far the most honest and knowledgeable mechanic in Virginia! Fair prices and excellent customer service. My sister-in-law took her car to the dealership and they wanted over $2000 in repairs. Took it to my dads automotive and Brian had her out of there under $200. You won’t find that anywhere else!! Been using Brian for over 20 years and will continue going to him for 20 more.
I had my Toyota Tacoma fully serviced with an extensive overhaul by My Dad’s and they were SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than Toyota and used the same genuine Toyota parts. I have no idea why you would go to the dealership. The owner was one guy and he was the actual mechanic. Here you deal directly with the person working on your car, not a receptionist who doesn’t know anything and has an attitude like at EVERY Toyota dealership I’ve been to. My Dads also stands behind their work longer than the Toyota dealership… I love this place.
Brian, the owner of this business, is the most caring, informative and cooperative mechanic around. He takes good care of his customers and does all he can to keep their business.
